About This Part

Jerk is a disc Takara Tomy released for the Dual Layer branch of the Burst System, debuting in Japan on October 22nd, 2016 with the B-61 Random Booster Vol. 4 Quad Quetzalcoatl.J.P assortment and reaching the west through Hasbro's Quill Quetziko Q2 Jerk Press starter pack. It is a round, thick, symmetrical piece with a soft-plastic rim screwed onto the disc body, similar in construction to Magnum and Polish, and carries a "Bound Defense" gimmick where two shield-shaped bumpers behind the prongs are meant to flex inward on impact. In practice, disc-to-layer contact is rare, the plastic rim leaves the disc hollow and low on stamina, and the bumpers barely flex, so the shock-absorbing effect rarely happens.

In Play

The community considers Jerk close to worthless competitively, since its defining gimmick almost never triggers, its hollow build hurts stamina, its low profile invites scraping, and its light weight rules it out of defensive builds, leaving it fit only for a collection.

The Competitive View

The rebound-shield gimmick almost never triggers as intended in Burst System matches, and when contact does occur it produces heavy recoil instead of a rebound; the thick shielded shape also raises floor-scrape risk and its mostly-plastic build gives poor KO resistance.

Verdict as the draft gives it: Competitively worthless, per the author, and suitable only for collection purposes.
