About This Part

Boost is a Disc made by Takara Tomy for the Burst System and the Dual Layer System. It debuted in Japan on April 2nd, 2016 with the B-34 Starter, Victory Valkyrie Boost Variable, then reached western stores through Hasbro's Epic Rivals Battle Set. Shaped as a circular Forge-Disc, it carries six small downward-sloping blades around its rim, intended to push air downward for grip in Right-Spin or lift the disc in Left-Spin to cut friction, but the blades are too small to create any real effect and mainly cost the disc life-after-death. It also runs light even for a non-Core Disc and carries a poor weight distribution, weakening its use in attack, defence and stamina combinations alike.

In Play

Community opinion holds Boost as clearly outclassed by Discs such as 4 and 7 for attack, defence and stamina, given its light weight and near-absent aerodynamic effect, leaving it a collection piece rather than a battler.

  • Released in Japan on April 2nd, 2016 with the B-34 Starter, Victory Valkyrie Boost Variable.
  • Released in western markets with Hasbro's Epic Rivals Battle Set.

The Competitive View

Boost's blade gimmick produces negligible aerodynamic effect while sharply cutting its Life-After-Death, and its low weight, mediocre stamina and subpar burst defense leave it with no real place in Standard or Hasbro-only tournament play.

Verdict as the draft gives it: Severely outclassed by top Forge Discs like Knuckle, 4 and 7; recommended for collecting only, not competitive use.

  • Six small downward-sloped perimeter blades
  • Debuted B-34 Victory Valkyrie Boost Variable, April 2, 2016
  • Below-average weight and burst defense versus Knuckle/4/7
  • Colors/releases: translucent (B-34), red-painted (Fire Knight Ver.), translucent dark blue (B-38 Entry Set), green-painted (Kirin Green Ver.), gold/silver/bronze (Tournament Prizes), black-painted (TV Quiz Exclusive), red-painted (B-64 Heavy Ver.)

Related parts named in the draft: Knuckle, 4, 7.
