About This Part
5 is a Core Disc from Takara Tomy, shared across the Burst System, the God Layer System and the SwitchStrike System. It first appeared in Japan on August 11th, 2017 inside the B-89 Booster, Blast Jinnius 5Glaive Guard, then reached western stores through Hasbro's SwitchStrike Starter Pack version of the same combination. Unlike the even-numbered Core Discs, 5 is asymmetrical: one side carries two "5"-shaped protrusions and the other three, with two small centre holes and smaller lobes on the crowded side keeping the piece balanced despite the lopsided layout. It behaves almost like a mirrored version of Disc 4, delivering comparable stamina, knock-out resistance and life-after-death when combined with a Frame such as Glaive or Cross.
In Play
Community consensus places 5 as a strong stand-in wherever Disc 4 is unavailable, useful in stamina builds such as Maximum Garuda/Drain Fafnir/Guardian Kerbeus/Deep Chaos with Glaive or Cross and Orbit or Atomic, and in defence builds pairing Alter Chronos or Maximum Garuda the same way.
- Released in Japan on August 11th, 2017 with the B-89 Booster, Blast Jinnius 5Glaive Guard.
- Released in western markets with Hasbro's SwitchStrike Starter Pack, Blast Jinnius J3 5Glaive Guard.
- A gold-coloured 5 Disc was distributed in Japan through a Cho-Z Bey Get Campaign, redeemed with a campaign ticket after spending up to 2000円 on Takara Tomy Beyblade Burst products at participating stores.
The Competitive View
Its shape resembles a reversed 4 disc and performs almost identically — high stamina potential, Knock-Out resistance and life-after-death when paired with Glaive or Cross Frames. Compared to 7 (more stamina), 5 is comparable with better Burst resistance thanks to its lighter weight. Cited combos: Defense — Alter Chronos/Maximum Garuda/Drain Fafnir 5 Glaive/Cross Orbit/Atomic; Stamina — Maximum Garuda/Drain Fafnir/Guardian Kerbeus 5 Glaive/Cross Orbit/Atomic.
Verdict as the draft gives it: A must-have Disk, central to Stamina and Defense combinations.
- Debut: B-89 Booster Blast Jinnius 5Glaive Guard
- Asymmetrical, elliptical shape: one side has two "5"-shaped protrusions, the other has three, with the extra protrusions sized to keep the disc balanced
