About This Part

Spriggan 2, again simply called Spriggan, is the second Takara Tomy DB Core built around the Cornish folklore creature, this time shown in side profile. It debuted in Japan on November 12th, 2022 with the B-205 Burst Ultimate VS Set. Like its predecessor its spin can be switched between right and left with a tool, it holds an average level of burst resistance on its own, and two grooves let it lock onto the raised tabs of the Xanthus and Moon discs through the "BU Lock" feature, keeping the pairing steady in battle.

In Play

In left-spin it falls behind stamina-focused rivals such as Achilles, but flipped to right-spin it reaches stamina performance on par with Dragon, so the community leans on it for right-spin stamina builds and rates it essential for the WBO's Burst format, while it holds no legality in GT, Limited or Classic.

  • Released in Japan on November 12th, 2022 in the B-205 Burst Ultimate VS Set, as the second of two Spriggan DB Cores.

The Competitive View

Delivers occasional surprisingly strong hits whether mobile (on Accel) or stationary (on Defense/Survive), but lacks the consistency of more aggressive layers, and even paired with the top-tier Xtreme driver it remains behind Xcalibur and Valkyrie for Attack, with no shown potential in other combo types.

Verdict as the draft gives it: Outclassed by Xcalibur and especially the more versatile Valkyrie even with a top-tier driver; not a priority purchase.

  • Weight: 7.7 grams (below the roughly 8.0-gram Layer average)
  • Three prominent side bumps forming a pendulum-like weight distribution; ascending tooth heights ending in a tall third tooth and small fourth tooth

Works with

  • Works with the Xtreme driver for attack, though still outclassed by Xcalibur/Valkyrie combos.

Related parts named in the draft: Xcalibur, Valkyrie, Amaterios, Xtreme.
