About This Part
Spriggan 1, usually just called Spriggan, is a Takara Tomy DB Core modelled on the mischievous spriggan of Cornish folklore. It was the first of two Spriggan DB Cores and launched in Japan on August 7th, 2021 with the B-188 Astral Spriggan Customize Set. As a dual-spin part its rotation can be flipped between right and left with a supplied tool, and it carries an average level of burst resistance, trailing other dual-spin DB Cores such as Achilles that offer more stamina.
In Play
The community rates it below other dual-spin DB Cores on stamina grounds, so it goes unrecommended for the WBO's Burst format, and it has no legality in GT, Limited or Classic.
- Released in Japan on August 7th, 2021 in the B-188 Astral Spriggan Customize Set, as the first of two Spriggan DB Cores.
The Competitive View
Delivers occasional surprisingly strong hits whether mobile (on Accel) or stationary (on Defense/Survive), but lacks the consistency of more aggressive layers, and even paired with the top-tier Xtreme driver it remains behind Xcalibur and Valkyrie for Attack, with no shown potential in other combo types.
Verdict as the draft gives it: Outclassed by Xcalibur and especially the more versatile Valkyrie even with a top-tier driver; not a priority purchase.
- Weight: 7.7 grams (below the roughly 8.0-gram Layer average)
- Three prominent side bumps forming a pendulum-like weight distribution; ascending tooth heights ending in a tall third tooth and small fourth tooth
Works with
- Works with the Xtreme driver for attack, though still outclassed by Xcalibur/Valkyrie combos.
Related parts named in the draft: Xcalibur, Valkyrie, Amaterios, Xtreme.
