About This Part

Kerbeus is a right-spin DB Core from Takara Tomy carrying three dog heads joined by a red chain, standing in for Kerberos, the three-headed guard dog of the Greek underworld. It swaps regular teeth for a sloped edge in the Hasbro style plus a "Rubber Lock" of rubber pads on either side and in the centre, whose friction makes bursting far harder; those pads also catch on the raised tabs of the BU Lock discs Xanthus and Moon even without a native BU Lock feature. Kerbeus is also the only DB Core with a rounded rather than polygonal perimeter, a shape built to work with the Chain BU Blade, whose six movable chains retract on impact when Kerbeus is fitted.

In Play

The community rates Kerbeus a must-have alongside Belial 3 for the toughest right-spin burst resistance in the WBO's Burst format, recommends keeping spares since the Rubber Lock wears out, and singles out the two B-198 releases for carrying the best stamina of the bunch; it is barred from the GT, Limited, and Classic formats.

  • Debuted in Japan on May 28th, 2022 with the B-198 Random Booster Vol. 29.

The Competitive View

Its rim's uneven protrusions grind unfavorably against opponents rather than in its favor, causing Outspin losses, though its circular shape gives decent stamina/defense and it was historically hard to burst.

Verdict as the draft gives it: The go-to early Defense/Stamina layer of the Burst generation, since outclassed by later layers like Odin; now recommended only if better options aren't available.

  • Weight: 8.0 grams
  • 16 rim protrusions (half larger, half smaller)
  • Products: Kerbeus Central Defense (B-04), Kerbeus Wing Fusion (B-08), Kerbeus Spread Accel and Kerbeus Heavy Survive (B-15 Random Booster Vol. 1), Kerbeus (BG-01)
  • Fourth Energy Layer released in the Burst generation

Related parts named in the draft: Odin, Poison.
