About This Part

A wide, round rim gives this Takara Tomy release its right-spin Defense Type profile; Prominence reached Japan on October 2nd, 2021 through the B-191 Overdrive Special Starter Set for the Dynamite Battle Layer System. It carries over the locking Prominence Shield first seen on the Revive Phoenix and Dead Phoenix Cho-Z Layers, which can be fitted vertically for a lighter, harder-to-dislodge Normal Mode or horizontally for a heavier, sturdier Heavy Mode. Losing the Shield mid-battle lightens the Blade and smooths its rim, cutting Burst risk but also draining Stamina, and a dropped Shield left in the stadium can disrupt an opponent's banking pattern.

In Play

Prominence struggles against Same-Spin right-spin rivals like Wind because of its weight spread, and fares only a little better against left-spin opponents, where Heavy Mode helps preserve its Stamina. Its main job is pure Defense against right-spin Attackers, soaking up hits with the Shield, though it is less effective against left-spin Attackers such as Guilty than dedicated Defense Blades like Barricade, and becomes exposed to Knockout Attack once the Shield comes off. The community does not recommend Takara Tomy's Prominence for the WBO's Burst format given how it fares against Wind and Guilty, and it is not legal in the WBO's Burst GT, Limited, or Classic formats.
