About This Part

Hasbro's release put Union on western shelves as part of the HyperSphere Starter Pack, with Union Achilles A5 Convert Xtend+-H as the debut set — a right-spin Balance Base for the Burst System's HyperSphere System that carries over the shape of Takara Tomy's original Union Base and folds in details recalling the Retsu Weight. Like its counterpart, two large sloped blades form its main contact points for knockout and burst-attack power, and a pair of removable Union Sword attachments switch it between a heavier Power Mode and a lighter, faster Speed Mode suited to Attack-type drivers. It stands out as the only Base in the HyperSphere lineup to keep this kind of mode-switching gimmick.

In Play

The community does not recommend it for the standard Burst format, since HyperSphere layers overall run too light against Takara Tomy's Dynamite Battle Layer System. In Burst GT it loses out to its Takara Tomy/Pro Series counterpart, which can carry an actual Weight and so hits harder. In Burst Limited its knockout and burst-attack strength earns it use in right-spin Attack combinations, though it still falls short of Takara Tomy's Buster Xcalibur and Hazard Kerbeus, making it a welcome pickup rather than a required one; it is not legal for Burst Classic.

  • Released by Hasbro as part of the Burst System's HyperSphere System.
  • Debuted in western countries in the HyperSphere Starter Pack Union Achilles A5 Convert Xtend+-H.
  • Its Union Sword attachments build in a faux Retsu Weight worth roughly half a gram, but because the Base still cannot mount a real Weight, a full Union combination ends up around 10 grams lighter than its Takara Tomy counterpart despite the Bases themselves weighing only a few grams apart.
