About This Part

Slash is a right-spin Attack Base Takara Tomy released for the Burst System's Gatinko Layer System, debuting in Japan on March 16th, 2019 inside a booster alongside Slash Valkyrie Blitz Power Retsu. Hasbro brought the same piece west renamed Sword, packed into the Evo Elite Champions Pro Set under its Pro Series line. It carries three upward-angled wings as its main striking surface, echoing the earlier Valkyrie energy layers, and mounts onto any right-spin or dual-spin Gatinko chip. Hasbro's version keeps the same shape but is moulded from softer plastic.

In Play

The wing shape suggests real hitting power, but the blades are too short to bite into an opponent properly, so competitive players rank it behind Judgement among right-spin Attack Bases. In the WBO's Burst Limited format its moderate punch still finds use paired with rubber tips such as Quick' and Xtreme', making it a reasonable pickup rather than a top choice, while Gatinko System pieces overall are considered too light for the Standard metagame and it is not legal for the Classic format.
