About This Part
Grand is a right-spin, Stamina Type Base that Takara Tomy built for the Gatinko Layer System branch of the Burst System. It went on sale in Japan on March 16th, 2019, inside the B-133 DX Starter as Ace Dragon Sting Charge Zan. Two dragon-head sections form its main contact points, flanked by large wings, giving it a look close to a mirrored Driger Slash. Like other Gatinko Stamina Bases, it leaves more of the Gatinko Chip's teeth exposed, which trims a little of the Chip's resistance to bursting.
In Play
Grand's round outline promises good stamina, but the sizeable gaps around its dragon heads and wings generate enough recoil to undercut that, and the wings themselves are hollow, which hurts outward weight distribution. Because Gatinko Layer weights sit closer to the piece's centre than its rim, the Base loses even more spin endurance. Between the recoil, the hollow wings and the inward weight bias, the community considers Grand outclassed by earlier pieces such as Archer Hercules and Hell Salamander, and rates it a collector's item rather than a tournament choice.
- Released in Japan on March 16th, 2019 with the B-133 DX Starter, Ace Dragon Sting Charge Zan.
