About This Part
Variable is an Attack-type Armor Tip Hasbro released across the Burst, QuadDrive and QuadStrike Systems, debuting in the Ultimate Evo Valtryek V8 and Divine Xcalius X8 Dual Pack (F6816) inside the Ultimate Evo Valtryek V8 combo. It reworks the Attack-type Variable Driver as a QuadStrike part, dropping the rubber but keeping recognisable plastic spikes on the tip.
In Play
Its wide, round shape is closer to a HyperSphere Performance Tip and is meant to interact with a QuadStrike System Beystadium; fitted onto a QuadDrive Performance Tip it becomes the main contact point in 'Plus Mode' at a height similar to a SpeedStorm Performance Tip.
- Debuted with the Hasbro Ultimate Evo Valtryek V8 and Divine Xcalius X8 Dual Pack, product code F6816
The Competitive View
Fresh, Variable is mildly aggressive at Blow-like speed; once the first six spikes wear off, speed rivals or beats Xtreme but control, banking, self-knockout risk and stamina all worsen further as it wears fully bare, though the resulting height loss is minor.
Verdict as the draft gives it: The Takara Tomy version is outclassed by Xtreme, Hold, and Accel and recommended for collection only; the Hasbro version is rated a welcome addition as a solid Xtreme alternative, used in the attack combo Valtryek V2/Roktavor Heavy/Gravity Variable.
- Debut: B-34 Victory Valkyrie Boost Variable (translucent light blue, black rubber), April 2, 2016
- Other TT releases: Fire Knight Ver., B-38 Beyblade Entry Set Green Ver., Tournament Prizes, B-49 06 Storm Spriggan Limited Variable and B-49 08 Kaiser Kerbeus Knuckle Variable (Random Booster Vol. 3), Television Quiz Exclusive (clear, black rubber), Zillion Zeus Magnum Variable Gold God Ver. (gold, black rubber)
- Hasbro releases: B9487 Valtryek V2 Boost Variable and B9498 Epic Rivals Battle Set (opaque blue, black rubber)
- Hasbro rubber is softer: faster on the first spike stage (between Accel and Zephyr speed) and wears more slowly, but control worsens further once worn to the second stage
Related parts named in the draft: Xtreme, Hold, Accel, Evolution, Valtryek V2, Roktavor.
