Community testing, Aug. 26, 2012 — summarised

The competitive view

Poison Giraffe S130MB, renamed Poison Zurafa by Hasbro, is a Metal Fight Beyblade whose Metal Wheel and Track are both judged largely uncompetitive, though its S130 Track and MB Bottom found real defensive and attacking niche uses.

Poison's protrusions are too narrow for real Smash Attack yet still cause high recoil, and its light weight makes it easy to knock out, leaving it essentially no competitive role; S130 is too light for Defense against BD145/GB145 but adds useful weight to Attack builds without blocking contact points, e.g. MF-H Flash Escolpio/Pisces/Orion S130RF; MB offers a wide, low-friction, heavy tip good for endurance, used in the Balance combo MF-H Duo Aquario/Cancer/Cygnus 230MB and formerly in the once-dominant UK Defense combo Basalt ___ BD145MB, now outclassed.

Verdict as the draft gives it: The article concludes the Beyblade is a convenient way to get S130 and MB, but since those parts are obtainable elsewhere, it should only be bought for collection purposes.

  • Giraffe Clear Wheel: 2.8 grams, originally transparent yellow-green with orange details; this release clear white with black details
  • Poison Metal Wheel: fifteen rectangular protrusions about 4 mm apart at the widest point, painted deep purple in this release
  • S130 Track: 3.3 grams, plastic, dark grey in this release, horizontal 8-armed disk
  • MB Bottom: a Ball-type tip made entirely of metal, the third-heaviest tip at the time
