Toyline · Across generations

Beyblade (toy)

Takara and Hasbro built this line of spinning-top toys from 1999 onward, taking cues from the traditional beigoma top and, early on, from Pokémon's collectible hooks. Bladers launch a top by ripcord into a stadium and score points for outlasting, ringing out, or bursting an opponent, with the exact scoring changing across eras. Parts have moved from all-plastic Basic System pieces through Engine Gear, Hard Metal, Metal, Hybrid Wheel, Extreme Top, 4D, Synchrome and Burst hardware, each generation adding new ways to mix and match attack, defense, stamina and balance types.
