Mode Change

This mechanic lets a single Beyblade shift its performance mid-battle or between fights by repositioning a tip, rotating a wheel, or flipping a frame. Hikaru's Storm Aquario introduced the idea with a twistable HF/S tip, and Lightning L-Drago 100HF extended it by letting its Energy Ring rotate between Rapid Attack and Upper Attack modes; on some Beys the swap even changes which beast appears in battle, as with Poison Serpent SW145SD becoming Medusa. The 4D generation pushed the idea further with Tracks like Final Drive that switch tip shape mid-fight and Fusion Wheels like Big Bang Pegasis that carry several frame arrangements. In practice, only Final Drive, Final Survive and X Drive can switch modes during an actual battle, with Variares' D:D wheel the sole frame-based exception, even though the anime shows many more Beys doing it freely.
