Biography

Dr. Ziggurat, Metal Masters' main antagonist, is the CEO of Hades Inc. and inventor of the Arrangement System, a process he uses to manufacture the perfect Beyblader, Faust, out of a gravely ill young man named Toby. Manipulative and arrogant, he blackmails Zeo into fighting Masamune by controlling Toby's treatment, then pivots to using Faust's Bey Twisted Tempo to build an energy weapon, the Spiral Force, planning to sell it to the highest bidder. When Gingka, Ryuga, and a freed Zeo confront him at Hades City's collapse, he tries to flee, blaming everyone but himself, and is left behind as the city sinks, presumed dead.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

Tall and dark-haired, Ziggurat rarely goes without a pair of orange triangular shades covering his eyes. He dresses in a long black suit with a dark green tie and black trousers, and a small goatee marks his chin. A rabbit-like pet squirrel is often tucked in his arms wherever he goes.

Manipulation comes naturally to Ziggurat, and he uses it ruthlessly to chase his ambitions — exploiting Toby's condition to blackmail Zeo, then convincing Zeo the rift with Masamune was entirely Masamune's doing. Brainwashing Toby troubles him not at all; he even insists Zeo wanted it done, and he takes visible pleasure in the destruction the Spiral Force demonstration causes. He frames himself as a scientist chasing a new energy source in beys, yet pivots easily to selling that power to the highest bidder, and dismisses Doji to Ryuga as a man too consumed by the hunger for power to think straight. When his creation spirals out of control, his confidence collapses into cowardice, and he tries to flee Hades City insisting none of it was his fault.

A schemer who builds bladers instead of being one; in his only battle Zeo beats him, and he runs rather than fight again.

Claims We Could Not Check

  • His name likely references the ancient Mesopotamian ziggurat structure, though the English dub mispronounces it.
  • The name may also nod to the German word Ziege, meaning goat.
