About This Part
Quetzalcoatl is a Wheel that Takara Tomy produced for the Metal System, reaching Japanese shelves in 2008 alongside Quetzalcoatl 90WF. Its mold is built from two broad wings that climb into a long slope before curving down near the peak, flanked by a pair of smaller angled protrusions in the gap between them. Although the wing shapes suggest upper-attack and force-smash potential, the rounded overall body leaves only two real contact points, so in practice the piece delivers moderate smash attack rather than the aggressive hits its silhouette implies.
In Play
Quetzalcoatl once ranked among the strongest attack options in the line, but later releases such as Vulcan and Lightning left it outclassed competitively.
- Debuted in Japan in 2008 with Quetzalcoatl 90WF.
- Released as a Bey Ta 1 exclusive and again as a silver tournament-prize prototype.
- Sold under the general Metal Fight Beyblade line as Quetzalcoatl 90WF.
- Early promotional renders labelled a feathered, scaled prototype as Quetzalcoatl, but the toy that shipped under that name was instead built from the design shown for Cancer in those same renders, with its slopes smoothed and rounded for production.
- A 2024 exhibit at Beyblade Park attributed the swap to the Cancer-shaped mold offering higher plucking performance, meaning greater recoil and smash attack, than the original feathered Quetzalcoatl design, which was never released in any form.
