About This Part
Salamander, known as Saramanda in Japan, is a Warrior Wheel Takara Tomy built for the Synchrome System, debuting there on March 31, 2012 with the BBG-02 Booster Shinobi Saramanda SW145SD before Hasbro's SS-02 Starter Pack Ninja Salamander SW145SD brought it west. Its surface combines rows of scales and pointed edges with curved sides, broken by two smoother patches that interrupt the scale pattern.
In Play
The community sees Salamander as decently weighted but slightly lopsided — useful on top of a Synchrome for adding Force Smash weight and a touch of Smash Attack, and passable in Defense builds as a substitute for Leviathan — but otherwise unremarkable enough that it is mainly worth owning for a collection rather than for competitive use, since it performs much the same on the bottom as on top given its minimal Force Smash.
- Debuted in Japan on March 31, 2012, with the BBG-02 Booster Shinobi Saramanda SW145SD.
- Released in western countries as the SS-02 Starter Pack Ninja Salamander SW145SD.
