About This Part
Sharp Wide Defense, or SWD, is a Takara Tomy Performance Tip that debuted in Japan on December 28, 2011 with the BB-123 Random Booster Vol. 9 Fusion Hades, in a translucent red colourway. It is an upgraded Defense Sharp built by fusing Wide Defense with a Sharp tip: it keeps Wide Defense's shape but opens a hole in its base that lets the sharp point beneath poke through, giving it a family resemblance to Eternal Wide Defense minus that tip's free-spinning bearing.
In Play
It performs well in stamina-focused combinations, holding its own against setups using Fusion Wheels like Scythe, Phantom, and Duo, though it comes up short against rival Wide Defense builds and against taller Performance Tips such as TH170; it can also scrape safely against BD145 much like Wide Defense and Eternal Defense Sharp do.
- Debuted in Japan on December 28, 2011 with BB-123 Random Booster Vol. 9 Fusion Hades.
- Sonokong later issued its own release of Fusion Hades AD145SWD.
