About This Part

Takara Tomy released Spiral, also known in Japan as Screw, as part of the Hybrid Wheel System, debuting there on January 22, 2011 inside the BB-102 Booster Screw Capricorne 90MF before reaching western shelves as the BB-102 Starter Pack Spiral Capricorn 90MF. The wheel takes the shape of a warped Storm, with three upward-curving wings separated by small gaps, each wing carved with oval bumps meant to push into Smash Attacks. Pre-release advertising promised strong Upper Attack from its sloped wings, but testing afterward found little of that; the wheel instead handles Upper Smash Attacks well.

In Play

Spiral hits hard as an Attack Type but sits behind wheels like Beat, Lightning, and Variares, and the community leans on small Energy Rings such as Pisces or Tempo to expose more of its metal for stronger Upper Smash damage; it is outclassed across the WBO's Metal Fight Standard, Zero-G, and 4D formats but ranks as a top Attack choice in the Limited format.

  • Released in Japan on January 22, 2011 as the BB-102 Booster Screw Capricorne 90MF.
  • Released in western countries as the BB-102 Starter Pack Spiral Capricorn 90MF.

The Competitive View

Compared to a standard flat tip, Spiral moves faster but sacrifices control, playing similarly to the older Left Flat tip; testing on it was still limited at time of writing.

  • Debuted B-66 Lost Longinus Nine Spiral, December 28, 2016
  • Colors: translucent pale blue (B-66), red (Crimson Dragon Ver.)
