About This Part
Takara Tomy released Ray in Japan on April 1, 2010 with the BB-71 Starter Ray Unicorno D125CS, a thin, three-winged Fusion Wheel with a bumpy surface. Small gaps separate each wing, letting their blunt ends deliver light Smash Attack, while two contour-following indents on every wing add a touch of Spike Attack that works alongside those blunt tips; the word RAY is stamped across the top in a stylised font.
In Play
Its knockout window is narrow, since its Smash Attack is only meaningful at the very high spin speeds present right at the start of a battle, and the rise of rubber Defense-Type Performance Tips such as Rubber Spike has made it harder for Ray to knock those combinations out; Fusion Wheels like Blitz and Variares now surpass it in Attack, leaving the community to treat Ray as mainly a collector's piece.
