About This Part
Takara Tomy issued Jade as a 4D System Fusion Wheel, launching it in Japan on August 6, 2011 inside the BB-116 Random Booster Vol. 8 set as Jade Jupiter, with a western release following in the BB-116-FX Spark FX Starter Pack. It is built from a Metal Frame and a Core, the four-sided Frame carrying oval cutouts that hold loose metal balls, while the Core hides a sun-shaped pattern beneath more of the same cutouts. Sliding the Frame across the Core moves those balls, switching the piece between a fixed Defense Mode and a mobile Attack Mode that shifts weight toward the rim. Total mass comes to 39.15 grams once both pieces are combined.
In Play
Bladers expected the moving-ball gimmick to make Jade a strong Defense wheel, but testing showed it losing ground to Twisted, Variares, Blitz and Phantom, leaving it short of top defensive and stamina wheels of its era.
- Released in Japan on August 6, 2011 in the BB-116 Random Booster Vol. 8 Jade Jupiter set.
- Released in western countries in the BB-116-FX Spark FX Starter Pack Jade Jupiter S130RB.
- Jade is the only 4D Metal Wheel permitted in the WBO's Metal Fight Limited format, and by extension the only one legal across every format.
- Its ball-shifting mechanism is functionally close to Zillion Zeus and Galaxy Zeus from the Burst line.
