About This Part
Ronin, also called Dark Knight, is an Element Wheel Takara Tomy released for the Synchrome System. It debuted in Japan on July 21, 2012 with the BBG-16 starter Dark Knight Dragooon LW160BSF, and Hasbro's SS-16 starter Ronin Dragoon LW160BSF carried it west in August 2013. One half of its rim carries sharp studs and the other a curved blade that gives a smooth slope; it can be fitted to any Warrior Wheel including right-spin ones, and flipping it into Crystal Up Mode converts a combination to left-spin.
In Play
Paired with Dragoon or other Warrior Wheels, Ronin can add some Smash Attack, but its light weight leaves it outclassed by Synchrome pairings in the standard, Zero-G and 4D formats; the WBO's Metal Fight Limited format is the exception, where Ronin's large protrusion lets it reach and counter tall 230-height stamina builds, making it a must-have there.
- Debuted in Japan on July 21, 2012 with BBG-16 Dark Knight Dragooon LW160BSF.
- A Gold Dragon Model variant was distributed at the World Hobby Fair 2012 event.
- Reached western countries in August 2013 as Hasbro's SS-16 Ronin Dragoon LW160BSF.
- Its English name references the rōnin, samurai who served no master.
