About This Part
Bearing Base is a Blade Base for the Spin Gear System that debuted with Bearing Stinger in December 1999. Its free-spinning tip weighs 8 grams and rides on a shaft held by two bearings — one plastic, swappable for an NSK bearing — an arrangement it shares only with Burning Kerberous and Takara's Zeus. That setup lets it absorb an opponent's hit rather than losing spin, and recover its balance quickly afterward; the tip itself is sharp and cut from a low-friction plastic, making it one of the strongest tips for outlasting an opponent. Hasbro's version sharpens the tip further and uses a harder plastic, trading some defensive ability for extra survival.
In Play
Bearing Base was the sole Blade Base viable for 'Zombie' survival-and-spin-steal strategies before Wolborg's release, and its shaft can be swapped into Wolborg's shaft casing to carry its tip into five- and six-layer combinations, including left-spin builds; the community also uses it in dedicated endurance combinations such as Wing Cross (Bistool) Ten Balance Bearing Base, prized for its balance and staying power against top-tier compact and balance rivals like 10B-Bistool.
- Debuted with the release of Bearing Stinger in December 1999.
- Its gimmick is similar to Bearing Drive from the Metal Series and to Bearing and its variants from the Burst Series.
- It was the first Blade Base built with bearings.
