Takafumi Adachi

Adachi wrote and drew the Metal Fight Beyblade manga that spun off into the Metal Fusion, Metal Masters, Metal Fury and Shogun Steel anime and toylines, taking on the project after Tomy asked him for a story unrelated to Takao Aoki's original series. He had already worked in manga on D.M. Fighter Honoo as writer and on Kung-Fu Panda as artist, and kept splitting his time between Beyblade and Kung-Fu Panda pages during production. In a Q&A run by WBO's Kai-V in October 2008, Adachi described character designs, Gingka Hagane's included, as coming together on tight deadlines, and named Virgo DF145BS and Aquario 105F as his favourite Beyblade designs.

  • For manga reference, Takara Tomy sends Adachi physical Beyblade samples so he can draw them from multiple angles.
  • He typically adapts character designs from artist Nagamori's original work rather than designing them from scratch.
