Bit Chip

A Bit Chip is the small round piece a Beyblade's Attack Ring holds in place at the top of the toy. Most carried a decal showing whichever Bit-Beast starred in that release, purely for looks, and the earliest chips were thin enough that later, thicker Bit Chips needed a Bit Chip Cover to sit properly on old rings. Takara's first runs called the piece the 'Character Chip,' printed on English packaging by mistake as 'Character Tips,' until the 14th BeyBattle Set relabelled it a Bit Chip, the name every reprint since (including later Ultimate Dragoon releases) has kept.

  • Japanese Bit Chips carried printed codes that unlocked the matching Bit in the video game Beyblade Fighting Tournament.
  • Under an early rule, losing or cracking your chip mid-battle ended the match on the spot, which is why sets often included a spare chip.
  • Takara's all-metal chip was given out only as a BBA tournament prize and pictured the CoroCoro Comic dragon mascot; surviving copies sell for very high prices among collectors.
  • Hasbro's metal chip held a small plastic nub meant to seat a separate 'Power Spirit' piece, sold in packs of four.
