Biography

Zomb — Jai in Japan — is the Dark Bladers' zombie, a lurching bandaged figure whose bit-beast Shamblor is as slow and relentless as he is. He was transformed after losing to Oliver, and the hatred that came of it is what binds him to the group; underneath it he is quiet and gentle, and not especially strong for his size. He speaks in groans and leaves the talking to the others, but he is in every ambush from the tunnel onward and takes his place in the battle under the Eiffel Tower, which they lose. He exists mostly to complete the monster quartet, and the dub plays him for creepy comedy as much as menace.

Personality

How They Behave

Beyblade (2001)

Dark Bladers

Losing to Oliver is the defeat that leaves Zomb bandaged and shambling, and the hatred that grew out of it is the only thing loud about him — everywhere else he answers in groans and lets Sanguinex do the talking. He shows up for the Channel Tunnel ambush and stands with the other three under the Eiffel Tower when they try to finish the Bladebreakers off as a group, Shamblor as slow and stubborn as he is. The fight goes the same way the others do, and the team loses. He is still with Sanguinex afterward at Robert's castle, quietly present rather than driving anything, the weakest blader of the four by his own team's reckoning.

Claims We Could Not Check

  • His Japanese name "Jai" is shorthand for "jaianto" (giant), mirroring how "Zomb" shortens "zombie."
