Biography

Sakyo Kurayami is a mysterious, dragon-themed blader in Shogun Steel who positions himself as Ryuga's spiritual successor, wielding the left-spin Ronin Dragoon LW160BSF. After ambushing rivals across Metal Bey City, he suffers his only defeat to protagonist Zyro Kurogane at Neo Battle Bladers, undergoes a change of heart, drops his cold treatment of loyal follower Takanosuke Shishiya, and ultimately joins Zyro's team against the revived DNA organization.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

Sakyo has light skin and wavy red hair worn long over his right eye, while the shorter left side leaves that eye exposed and rises into pointed spikes; the style continues past his ears and down his neck, with a spiky white-dyed patch behind his ears giving an olive-wreath impression. His eyebrows are thick, spiked and red, matching a pair of small red eyes that give him a mystical look, above a small pointed nose. His long red jacket is lined in white and yellow, plain white inside, with red diamonds set against white panels and yellow locks strung on black belts. Underneath he wears a black collared shirt with a small lightning bolt, black trousers with yellow highlights, black shoes, and a red belt centred on a golden dragon's hand cupping a sphere.

Sakyo takes Beyblading with total seriousness and carries an air of mystery, prone to appearing out of nowhere to interrupt other Bladers' battles. That unpredictability doesn't undercut his composure — he's shown to be genuinely powerful, brushing aside most opponents with little effort while a rare few actually test him. Away from battle he stays quiet, reserved and never boastful, though a darker edge can surface under pressure, turning his expression menacing and his manner rude. He keeps to himself almost entirely; only Takanosuke Shishiya comes close to being a friend, someone Sakyo first treats merely as a battle partner until a loss to Zyro shows him otherwise. As the next Dragon Emperor, he shares Ryuga's affinity for dragon-type Beyblades and claims Ryuga gave him his own.

Claims We Could Not Check

  • His manga design includes a dragon-head emblem on the back of his coat that the anime version omits, tied to a Dragon Clan connection absent from the anime continuity.
  • Series creator Takafumi Adachi said the gold 'fluttering hem' on Sakyo's coat was inspired by a uniform from the 2000 film Bring It On.
  • He shares an identical battle-record pattern with Ryuga: undefeated except for one loss to the series' protagonist.
