Biography

Ryo Hagane, Gingka's father, spends most of Metal Fusion disguised as the masked blader Phoenix, testing and guiding his son without revealing his identity. He is unmasked when saving Hyoma and Kenta from falling debris, and by Metal Masters he has stepped fully into his role as WBBA Director in Japan, occasionally donning the Phoenix persona again for old times' sake. Towering over even the adult cast, he imparts the show's core lesson about Blader Spirit to Gingka before nearly being crushed by falling boulders.

Appearance

What They Look Like

Ryo bears a strong resemblance to his son Gingka, sharing the same red hair and the habit of wearing a headband. Day to day he dresses in a blue vest over a black top. In his disguise as Phoenix, he swaps this for a red coat that falls to his knees, along with a metal mask and wig shaped to suggest a phoenix and conceal who he is, worn over a black-and-brown shirt and long pants, with Burn Fireblaze holstered on his belt. He's notably tall, the tallest character in the show, standing taller than even the adult cast and towering over Benkei.

As Phoenix he beats Gingka, Tsubasa and Doji with Burn Fireblaze's endurance, and his Blader Spirit lesson is what wins his son the final.
