Biography

Kite Unabara is Eight Unabara's older brother and one of the main protagonists of Beyblade: Shogun Steel, a cocky self-styled Beyblade researcher who studies opponents' data before battling with his defense-type Guardian Leviathan. When his calculated strategies fail, Kite suffers dramatic mental breakdowns that flip him from calm analyst to reckless brawler. He first challenges Zyro Kurogane to avenge Eight, loses, then wins their rematch using a Synchrome fusion with Eight called Orochi Leviathan. After joining Zyro's group, Kite battles rivals like Yoshio Iwayama and Sakyo Kurayami, reaches the Best Eight of Neo Battle Bladers, and eventually loses to Kira Hayama in the semifinals.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

Kite stands tall and somewhat muscular, his olive skin set off by spiky brown hair, thin eyebrows and deep blue eyes that show through a pair of glasses. He dresses in a green-collared shirt and red necktie under an oversized white lab coat trimmed in blue and yellow, its large collar worn open and its sleeves rolled to the elbow. Below that he wears tight navy trousers striped in yellow and dress shoes finished with the same yellow accent.

Research drives Kite's approach to Beyblade: he studies an opponent's equipment closely enough to build a strategy around its specific weak points, and that intelligence feeds a cocky, near-total confidence that he will win. That confidence is not always justified, and when reality catches up with him he can suffer what amounts to a breakdown, losing his composure and switching his Bey from a defensive stance into a rapid, relentless offensive before settling back into his usual calm once the battle is over. Away from competition he is capable of enjoying himself, joining the group for a swim during a day off at Midsummer Beach. He also has a keen appetite, once snatching and devouring Zyro's intended lobster with a gusto that left Zyro startled.
