Biography

Eight Unabara is one of the main protagonists of Beyblade: Shogun Steel and the devoted younger brother of Kite Unabara. A whiny, sore-loser skateboarder who nonetheless battles skillfully, he idolizes his brother much as Benkei once idolized Kyoya. After losing his opening penalty-game battle to Zyro, he and Kite form the combined Beyblade Orochi-Leviathan and its Spiral Crush special move. Eight competes through several tournament arcs, including the Neo Battle Bladers tournament, mostly losing to stronger opponents like Kira Hayama but always supporting Kite from the sidelines.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

Scraggy blue hair and green eyes give Eight a scruffy look, paired with an orange-and-white jacket and matching orange trousers. Headphones hang around his neck, and his shoes run white and blue. He's frequently pictured with a skateboard, either riding it or carrying it along with him.

Complaining comes easily to Eight, who reads as obstinate, disagreeable and more than a little whiny. Strength in battle doesn't stop him being a sore loser, earning him the label of a cry-baby, and after beating opponents he likes to draw on their faces with a pen just to rub the loss in further. His battling style echoes his skateboarding, and a relaxed, confident calm carries him through matches, letting him size up an opponent's chances almost on sight. He bristles when a crowd turns against him, as spectators do ahead of his match with Zyro. His devotion to his older brother Kite runs deep: Kite looks out for him, and Eight repays it by cheering him on, standing in for him in battle, avenging his losses, and following him around with constant praise.
