About This Part
Flying Defense is a 7-gram Attack Ring from the Spin Gear System that debuted with Trypio; the Takara Tomy version can fly and measures 8.84 cm (3.50") wide, while the Hasbro release removes the flying ability and the three attacking points, leaving a fully circular ring.
In Play
Its width keeps it from being knocked out of stadiums like the Tornado Balance Type S, and pairing the Hasbro version with a low base such as Dragoon S's Storm Grip Base helps keep Upper Attackers from knocking it off balance, though it is fragile and unstable enough that neither version is recommended competitively; in Hasbro stadiums a high-movement build such as SG Metal Flat 2 can push Survival-type opponents into the pockets, though it fares poorly against true Defense types and isn't meant to face Attack types.
- Flying Defense's design and role are similar to the Maximum Garuda and Air Knight Layers from the Burst Series.
