Takara Tomy

Japanese toy manufacturer formed when Tomy, renamed from Tomiyama in 1963, merged with its longtime rival Takara on March 1, 2006; the combined firm makes and distributes the Beyblade line at home and runs domestic tournaments from its Katsushika, Tokyo headquarters. Before that merger, Takara alone had produced the tops from the Bakuten Shoot Beyblade era, and the modern company now licenses the brand abroad through Hasbro, with Youngtoys (previously Sonokong) handling South Korea.
