Term · Beyblade Burst

Layer

The Layer sits at the top of a Beyblade Burst top and gives each build its combat identity, filling the role that Attack Rings and Energy Rings/Fusion Wheels played in earlier eras. Built mostly from clear polycarbonate over coloured ABS, with metal screws or springs added where a design calls for them, most Layers carry an avatar's likeness and set both a top's spin direction and its main combat behaviour. Takara Tomy and Hasbro have issued the piece under several construction styles across the line's run — plain single-piece Layers, Dual Layers split into an Over Layer and Layer Core, SwitchStrike and God Layers with swappable God Chips, Disc-Integrated Layers that fold a Forge Disc into the same piece, metal-reinforced Cho-Z Layers, customizable Gatinko and Superking Layers, and Hasbro's simplified Hypersphere Layers — each tuning weight, spin direction and how a top meets an opponent in collision differently.
