Biography

This manga incarnation of Yu Tendo starts as a devious Dark Nebula agent who infiltrates Battle Bladers to sabotage Ginga Hagane's friends, hiding his skill behind a friendly, novice act until he crushes Kenta Yumiya. Partnered with Tsubasa Otori, he nearly eliminates Ginga and Kyouya before their rotating-stadium teamwork turns the tide. After Dark Nebula's defeat he reforms, staying in Japan as a genuine beyblader who competes in later 4D tournaments and lends his strength to Gingka's final stand against Rago.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

This version of Yu is small and light-skinned, with fluffy hair that bangs down over his forehead while spiking up sharply at the back, framed by pronounced sideburns. His eyes are large, dark and usually alight with joy. He wears a long, button-up jacket with a flat collar over a sweatshirt, and his trousers run all the way down to his sneakers.

In his earliest appearances this Yu comes across as cocky and calculating, caring only about winning, and he uses a friendly manner as a trick to get Kenta to underestimate him even though he already relishes fighting strong opponents. Once he breaks away from the Dark Nebula, his outlook shifts the way Tsubasa's and Kyouya's do, and Beyblading becomes something he pursues for genuine enjoyment rather than manipulation. From that point he is easygoing and eager for a good match, and grows visibly frustrated when he is denied one or stuck in a dull battle.

  • Manga Yu is colder and more calculating than his anime counterpart, using friendliness purely as a ruse.
  • His joint move with Tsubasa, Annihilation Attack, is unique to the manga.
  • He physically resembles his anime version but with sharper sideburns and a longer jacket.
