Yu Tendo is a young, fun-loving blader introduced in Metal Fusion as a Dark Nebula recruit who idolizes Ryuga. After losing to Gingka Hagane in the Battle Bladers finals he defects, becomes fast friends with Gingka's group, and later serves as the reserve, then tag partner with Tsubasa Otori, for Team GanGan Galaxy through the World Championships. He matures across the Metal Saga, eventually joining the Legendary Bladers' allies who help bring down Nemesis. His stamina-type Flame Libra channels sonic vibrations for both defense and devastating area attacks.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

Yu is small for his age, with pale skin and bright peridot-green eyes that usually shine with excitement. His orange hair is fluffy and spikes up over the crown and back of his head, with bangs falling over his forehead. He dresses in a white jacket and matching white shorts that end at the knee, the jacket trimmed with sky-blue sleeve cuffs and lapels and brown buttons, plus lime-green markings that echo the colour of his Beyblade, Flame Libra. White boots reaching mid-calf, highlighted in sky blue, complete the outfit, and his hairstyle alone makes him stand a little taller than Kenta Yumiya and Tithi.

For a child of his age Yu is cheerful, carefree and fully absorbed in Beyblading, and that enthusiasm carries an underlying sharpness: he reads opponents astutely and holds firm convictions despite his youth. He looks up to bladers who defeat him, Ryuga and Gingka among them, and bristles at being treated as a little kid, which Tsubasa needles him with on purpose. Being so young, he whines often, gets sulky when kept from battling a strong opponent, and takes comfort in ordinary childish things like ice cream, pizza and toys. He hands out nicknames to people he likes — Kyoya becomes 'Yo-Yo', Benkei 'Benben', Kenta 'Kenchi' — regardless of whether they welcome it. He grows up noticeably across the show, still following others without question early on and only becoming genuinely responsible, and protective of Tithi, by the later seasons.
