Biography

Ranjiro Kiyama, nicknamed Cap'n, is the deuteragonist of Beyblade Burst Turbo and founder of the Wild Bey Gang after his own club walked out following a loss to Aiger Akabane. Hot-headed and fiercely competitive, he starts as Aiger's rival, fighting him to a legendary 149-battle stalemate before the two become close friends. He fights first with his brother Rantaro's hand-me-down Roktavor, upgrading it into Crash Roktavor, then later into the Lightning-era Glide Roktavor in Beyblade Burst Surge, where an injury from Lain Valhalla forces him to hand his Legend Festival spot to Hyuga.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

Ranjiro looks a lot like his older brother Rantaro, sharing his tall flattop blonde hair, hazel eyes and a bandage across his left cheek, along with the habit of chewing a green-and-yellow lollipop. In Turbo he wears a long white jacket with flame patterns at the hem and over the right shoulder, an orange shirt underneath, white cloth wound around his waist, trousers split black and mahogany down the middle, white boots and a white belt closed with an R-shaped buckle. By Surge his hair has grown out slightly, the flame trim on the jacket has sharpened into jagged points, and the plain shirt has given way to a yellow-orange dress shirt worn with baggy pants coloured half blue and half orange, while the boots, belt, buckle and waist wrap stay the same.

Ranjiro shares much of his brother Rantaro's temper, flaring up fastest when someone mocks his hair, and Raul Comas notices he runs even hotter than Rantaro does. Being called 'Broomhead' by Hikaru and Hyuga Hizashi sends him chasing them all the way to the Comets Gym. He leads capably and looks out for the people he loves, following Aiger to the Dread Tower once he sees him falling into an unhealthy obsession with resonance. His confidence can tip into overreach: he underestimates Hikaru, is stunned by his Lightning Launch, and reacts with disbelief when Hikaru fights Glide Ragnaruk to a draw. A competitive streak keeps him training hard against Hyuga and Silas Karlisle, and quick to promise he'll beat Hyuga and Aiger in a rematch.
