Biography

Phi is Turbo's central antagonist and Hyde's elder twin, a self-styled 'Lord of Destruction' obsessed with breaking the strongest bladers' Beyblades. A childhood grudge over losing Dread Hades to his brother festers into an ability to corrupt opponents with dark resonance, and he destroys five beys across the season while stalking Valt's inner circle for indirect torment. After stealing a Hades fragment to become Dread Phoenix, he is finally defeated by Aiger Akabane in the season's penultimate episode.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

Tall and pale-skinned, Phi has long white hair and mismatched eyes, blue on the right and red on the left. He originally wore a blue sweatshirt with a red emblem under a crimson, three-pronged-tailed coat trimmed in yellow, with a studded white belt, diamond earrings, and burgundy trousers fused with his shoes. After claiming Dread Phoenix he switched to a black gloved bodysuit lined with dark-red, similar to his younger brother's outfit, topped with a three-hexagon silver pauldron and a white-trimmed black coat, its tail again three-pronged and now flame-tipped, with a two-piece silver belt ending in dark-red hexagons. Calling on his dark power turns the whites of his eyes black, warps his voice, and shifts his aura from fiery red-orange to deep purple.

Phi first comes across as calm, composed and gentle, but that mask slips to reveal someone dangerous, immature, ruthless and hungry for power, fixated on becoming the strongest blader alive. His bond with his Bey, Phoenix, curdles into an obsession with destroying powerful opponents; he styles himself the 'Lord of Destruction' and shows real cruelty early on by wrecking Laban's Vice Leopard and Kyle's phone. The grudge driving him traces back to childhood, when his brother Hyde claimed the Bey he wanted, and it never really lets go. He toys with rivals like a spoiled child, treating people as playthings and savouring their despair, and can corrupt opponents' minds outright. Losing does not humble him — he lashes out and blames everyone but himself, though he later admits, grudgingly, that he was wrong about some things.

Dread Phoenix shatters five Beyblades and sweeps Hyde, Shu and the Turbo 4, but a grudge-fed ego leaves him nothing to answer Aiger's final resonance.
