Biography

Merci is an AI mainframe built and used by Doji, speaking a mix of Japanese, English, and French with a mannered, condescending style that mirrors its creator. It runs security and scheming for Dark Nebula, later secretly hosts a digitized copy of Doji after his apparent death, and resurfaces as the computer system behind the organization DNA in Shogun Steel, manipulating Team Garcias without their knowledge. It's ultimately destroyed alongside Doji when DNA falls.

How They Behave

Merci shows a surprising amount of character for a computer system. A French accent colours his voice most obviously, but the substance of what he says carries just as much personality — he grasps irony and jokes and even mimics laughter, portrayed like being tickled, when his system gets hacked. His speech runs smooth and elegant, polite on the surface, though its faintly condescending edge mirrors the way his master talks.
