Biography

Jack is an antagonist in the Metal Saga who treats Beyblade battling as performance art, dubbing his attacks "masterpieces" and showing chilling detachment toward opponents he defeats. Representing America on Team Star Breaker under Hades Inc., he wields Evil Befall UW145EWD and is subjected to the mind-altering Arrangement System, which amplifies his obsessive, artistic cruelty. He leads Ryuga to HD Academy, later gets arranged with data from Ryuga and then Gingka, and suffers back-to-back losses to Ryuga and Tsubasa Otori. After Hades City falls he survives and briefly resurfaces in Metal Fury's Destroyer Dome, now free of the Arrangement but eliminated early by Jigsaw.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

In his first appearance, Jack wears his light burgundy hair long and wavy, paired with a blue-green jacket trimmed in yellow over a purple shirt, white gloves, dark blue lipstick and a pointed black masquerade mask covering his nose. Once he reaches Metal Fury, the mask and face paint are gone, though the blue lipstick and gloves stay. He swaps the jacket for a grey one worn over a teal shirt, adds brown trousers, a white-and-yellow belt, black boots and a piece of neckwear, a change tied to his release from the Arrangement System.

Jack lives inside his own idea of art, treating anything that fails to measure up as worthless, and he wages his beyblade battles as a means of creating it rather than as sport. That obsession makes him ruthless: he shows no concern for others' wellbeing and is willing to turn a person into 'art' by hurting them. Under the Arrangement System's influence his temper grows unstable, and seeing his work destroyed sends him into a breakdown, yet he credits the System with making him freer and closer to art. He sorts people sharply between those he finds elegant, like Ryuga or Tsubasa, and everyone else, showing little grasp of what others feel. Once that influence fades in Metal Fury, he settles into a calmer version of the same character.

Claims We Could Not Check

  • His special move name and Beyblade both likely reference Jack the Ripper and the Japanese word for peacock, 'kujaku.'
  • Seiyuu Koki Uchiyama shares a first name with the character Koki from Metal Fusion, who also used a peacock-themed Beyblade.
  • His look and narcissism draw comparisons to Juda from Hokuto no Ken and Asuka Kami from B-Daman Crossfire.
  • Every member of Star Breaker once tried to recruit Ryuga to HD Academy, but Jack was the only one who succeeded.
  • He had never won a single battle before joining HD Academy, per the episode 'The New Striker is Finished!'
