Biography

Fubuki Sumiye is the tritagonist of Beyblade Burst Turbo, a calm, hardworking captain of the Beigoma Academy BeyClub inspired as a child by watching Shu Kurenai battle. He rejects the idea of natural genius, clashing with the confident newcomer Aiger Akabane in a rivalry mirroring Shu and Valt's. After training with Shu in America, Fubuki grows more strategic, later mentoring Toko Aoi as his BeyClub successor and supporting Aiger through his dangerous dark resonance with Achilles, even as his own friendship with fellow club member Suoh Genji frays and eventually mends.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

Fubuki has blond hair and black eyebrows above red eyes. He wears a black shirt marked with the red Beyblade emblem at the upper right and a light-blue pendant at his neck, paired with baggy blue trousers and blue-and-black sneakers.

Fubuki approaches training with total, almost monk-like concentration, tuning out everything around him once he starts. He has little patience for boasters like Aiger or anyone who talks themselves up, holding that everyone can still improve, and Suoh calls him a workaholic bordering on obsessive. He rejects the idea of natural genius outright, crediting hard graft over talent for real strength. He was far more excitable as a child than the quiet, guarded figure he becomes, and turns cooler and more calculating still after training abroad with Shu Kurenai, evident when he partners Aiger in a team match. Underneath the reserve he is loyal and supportive to people he cares about, promising to bring Aiger back from a corrupted bond with Achilles rather than write him off, and later helping him bond with an evolved Bey.

  • He is the fourth Turbo character to debut before his official season, following Toko Aoi, Nika Aoi, and Koji Konda.
  • His given name, written in katakana, can also mean 'blizzard' and references the WWI-era Fubuki-class destroyers.
