Biography

The manga's Daidoji is a darker, more persistent version of the anime villain: starting as Ryuga's Dark Nebula subordinate, he secretly connects to the antagonist of every subsequent arc, ultimately revealed as the true puppeteer behind Zero-G's final threat. Each arc replaces more of his body with cybernetics, an artificial leg after Big Bang Bladers, then a near-complete robotic form by Zero-G, mirroring his growing obsession with revenge against Ginga for ruining his plans. He loses to Ginga's Storm Pegasus twice early on, resurfaces to bomb a stadium platform and assist Faust's boss, and returns seven years later as a cyborg still gunning for Ginga.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

Doji's look shifts more than almost any other character across the manga's arcs. He starts out as a sharp-dressed businessman in a brown suit trimmed with gold, glasses perched on his nose, his dark spiky hair marked by one gold strand shaped like a bolt of lightning. During the Big Bang Bladers arc he switches to military camouflage, black boots and shades, with a scar now marking his face. By the Nemesis arc he's back in a long grey coat with a white cravat over black clothing, but the biggest change is mechanical: an artificial leg and shoulder hardware trailing tubes into his body, injuries from the Big Bang Bladers climax. In Zero G he has become almost entirely a cyborg, even parts of his face replaced with machinery.

Stubbornness defines this version of Doji; he clings to his goals through defeat after defeat without ever reconsidering them. Cold and condescending, he smiles arrogantly while acting as though he already holds the upper hand in any exchange, rarely granting anyone his full attention. Multiple superiors claim his loyalty on paper, but in practice he answers only to his own agenda. Later chapters darken him further as his fixation on punishing Ginga for wrecking his ambitions and his life's work hardens into open obsession.
