Biography

Chiyun Li is the calm-but-intense vice-leader of China's Beylin Temple team, Wang Hu Zhong, behind leader Dashan Wang, in Metal Masters and Metal Fury. Loyal to China and Dashan, he taunts opponents to unlock their potential and speaks for his team in Dashan's absence. He fights Japan's GanGan Galaxy across the World Championship arc with mixed results, loses to Klaus in the Big Bang Bladers wildcard round, and later fights alongside the Legendary Bladers against Nemesis while tag-teaming with Dashan.

Appearance and personality

What They Look Like, and How They Behave

His dark blue hair is bound into a Manchu-style braided ponytail above reddish-brown eyes and a peach complexion. He dresses in a purple changshan trimmed in red with a yellow outline and matching yellow cuffs, marked on the chest with a dark orange circle bearing a red gecko, and layers on a green jade prayer-bead necklace. White trousers and brown-and-purple boots complete the base outfit, topped by a purple, yellow-trimmed hat styled after Qing-dynasty court headgear, its red interior finished with a small green ball. The whole look echoes Qing-era court dress, and his slight build makes him one of the smallest and youngest characters, alongside Kenta, Yu and Tithi.

Battle brings out a serious, intense streak in him — he actively seeks out tough opponents and will goad them just to provoke the anger that unlocks their true potential. Loyalty runs deep, both to China and to his closest friend Dashan Wang, and that same standard makes him wary of Chao Xin, whose lack of loyalty grates on him. Away from the stadium he's surprisingly chatty, often speaking for the whole team whenever Dashan isn't around, though he has the odd habit of referring to himself in the third person.
