About This Part
12 is a Takara Tomy Disc that debuted in Japan on March 17th, 2018 inside the B-104 Starter, Winning Valkyrie 12 Volcanic, and reached the west through Hasbro's Rail Rush Battle Set. As an even-numbered Core Disc it is symmetrical and elliptical, with three protrusions per side, the centre one on each set molded into a "12" shape with four holes, similar to 6. Its jagged edges look built for heavy Disc-to-Layer contact, but because most Burst Performance Tips share a similar height that contact rarely happens; when it does, 12's sharp shape has been known to gouge the Layer it strikes. At the time of writing it is the lightest Disc made, lighter even than Armed, which drags down its attack, defence and stamina output, and though a lighter Disc would normally resist bursting better, the heavier Layers of the SwitchStrike/God Layer and Cho-Z Layer Systems cancel that benefit out.
In Play
The community rates 12 behind every other Core Disc in every category because of its light weight, recommending it for collecting rather than competitive play.
- Released in Japan on March 17th, 2018 in the B-104 Starter, Winning Valkyrie 12 Volcanic.
- Released in western countries by Hasbro as part of the Rail Rush Battle Set.
- Because 12's sharp shape can gouge an opposing Layer, WBO tournament rules require a Disc Frame to be fitted whenever it is used.
The Competitive View
Its light weight severely limits Attack, Defense, and Stamina potential, and although light Discs traditionally aid Burst resistance, the heavier Switch-Strike/God and Chou-Z Layer Systems have made that advantage largely obsolete.
Verdict as the draft gives it: 12 is outclassed for competitive use by all other Core Discs in every category, recommended for collection only.
- Three protrusions per side, center protrusion molded as '12', four center holes (akin to Disc 6)
- Lightest Disc at time of writing, lighter than Armed
Related parts named in the draft: Disc 6, Armed.
