About This Part
Optimus Primal is an Attack Type Blade Hasbro released for the Basic Line system, arriving in western countries bundled with Starscream and reaching Japan through Takara Tomy's matching BX-00 set on May 17th, 2025. Its two large blades slope upward, favouring Smash and Upper Attack, and it reuses SharkEdge's plastic pieces with a metal piece that is nearly the same, only rounder at the blade tips and slightly heavier on average. The Gear Chip carries the Maximal officer of the same name from Beast Wars: Transformers, taken from an existing character art asset, and the surface texture on the large blades nods to his signature swords.
In Play
Because it keeps SharkEdge's Attack strength while shaving down chip risk on its rounded tips, the community treats Optimus Primal as an easy stand-in or companion piece for SharkEdge, and rates it a core choice for the WBO's X format.
- Released in western countries with the Optimus Primal and Starscream Multipack Set (Hasbro G0352).
- Released in Japan on May 17th, 2025 with Takara Tomy's BX-00 Optimus Primal and Starscream Multipack Set.
- Optimus Primal is one of the few retooled moulds that weighs more on average than the Blade it copies.
