About This Part

KnightShield is a round, six-point Defense Type Blade that Takara Tomy launched in Japan on July 15th, 2023 through the BX-04 Starter, with Hasbro following west as Helm Knight; it was one of the toyline's first four Blades and its first Defense Type entry. Its Gear Chip depicts a knight in a close helm. The original mould averaged 32.4 grams, and the piece was a staple of 3on3 decks from its 2023 debut until the heavier WizardRod (Wand Wizard) took over its Defense and Stamina role in March 2024. A reinforced mould introduced from January 2025 onward, identifiable by its clear coat, raised the average weight to 34.8 grams and first shipped in reprints of the original BX-04/F9581 release. Several later retools reuse its base design, including Iron Man, Luke Skywalker, Optimus Prime, and Bumblebee, though each of those weighs less and has weaker balance and contact points.

In Play

KnightShield was competitive when the line launched but has since been passed over for heavier Defense and Stamina Blades, and the community does not consider it viable for the WBO's X format.
