About This Part

CobaltDrake is an Attack Type Blade Takara Tomy released for the Basic Line, debuting in Japan on September 14th, 2023 inside the BX-00 Rare Bey Get Battle prize booster; Hasbro later launched it west as Cobalt Drake. Four upward-slanting blades, similar to but smaller than those on DranSword, form its main contact points, and it belongs to the Team Pendragon group honouring the Bladebreakers' Dragoon from Bakuten Shoot Beyblade; its Gear Chip carries the Blue Dragon (Seiryū) of Chinese mythology in the cobalt-blue shade used across the Blade, alongside the Bakuten Shoot Beyblade logo.

In Play

At launch, CobaltDrake was the heaviest Blade sold, averaging 38 grams, a figure Takara Tomy promoted heavily since it beat contemporary Attack Blades by 3 grams. Later runs slipped below that mark, though: the Clear Version and the Metal Coat Red release weigh anywhere from 36.3 to 37.6 grams, noticeably under the original 38.0-gram figure.

  • Debuted in Japan on September 14th, 2023 in the BX-00 Rare Bey Get Battle prize booster.
  • All Metal Coat Blue copies come from an earlier, heavier mold made before a gap in production; every Clear Version copy, including Hasbro's, and every Metal Coat Red copy comes from a later mold that runs lighter.
  • No other part has taken as long to reach Hasbro's lineup after its Japanese debut as CobaltDrake did, arriving three years later.
  • The colouring shown for it in the anime and manga has only ever been sold by Takara Tomy.
