About This Part
Merge is a Balance Type Bit that Takara Tomy released under the Basic Line system, first appearing in Japan on August 9th, 2025 with the BX-45 Booster, SamuraiCalibur 6-70M, before reaching western stores through Hasbro's Calibur Samurai and Obsidian Shell Dual Pack. Shortened to M, it pairs a flat rubber tip with a plastic point rising from its centre; tilting the bit or knocking it off balance brings the rubber edge into contact with the stadium floor for forceful movement, while a level launch lets it spin on the plastic point and drift back toward the stadium's centre. It was the first bit built with eighteen internal gears rather than the usual twelve, which speeds up its Xtreme Dash at some cost to stamina, and it stands four millimetres taller than a standard bit with correspondingly taller gears and more clearance where it meets the combo's ratchet — making it, at release, the heaviest bit yet produced, edging out the previous record holder, Elevate.
In Play
- Debuted in Japan on August 9th, 2025 with the BX-45 Booster, SamuraiCalibur 6-70M
- Reached western markets through Hasbro's Calibur Samurai and Obsidian Shell Dual Pack
- Like Elevate before it, Merge appears to have gone through multiple design passes: promotional renders of the SamuraiCalibur 6-70M product from both Takara Tomy and Hasbro show a shorter, prototype version of Merge, and by coincidence the same renders depict WhaleWave 5-80E fitted with an early prototype version of Elevate as well.
The Competitive View
Launched straight down, the sharp center keeps it stable and stamina-conserving. Knocked off balance or launched at an angle, the rubber points create an aggressive movement pattern faster than Xtreme, but this is unreliable since the sharp center can stall the motion, and the extra rubber surface hurts stamina. When worn, the rubber instead acts as Knock-Out brakes at a stamina cost before the part returns to a stable spin. It is reported to be somewhat more aggressive and consistent than predecessor Unite when launched with a Sliding Shoot, and to behave differently for left-spin vs. right-spin use.
Verdict as the draft gives it: Outclassed for competitive Attack use due to inconsistency and weak stamina, but valued for versatility and collecting.
- Debut: B-89 Starter Legend Spriggan 7 Merge
- Six-pointed flat rubber tip plus a central sharp plastic tip, standard height
- Compared to Metal Fight Beyblade's Right Rubber Flat tip (rubber points) and Coated Sharp tip (center point)
- Takara Tomy: B-89 Legend Spriggan 7 Merge (translucent dark red, black rubber)
Related parts named in the draft: Unite, Xtreme.
