About This Part

Disk Spike, abbreviated DS, is a Bit Takara Tomy released under the Basic Line system as a successor to the original Spike, reaching western stores through Hasbro's Infinity Starter Pack carrying Ring Aether 0-80DS. It is the second Bit to use the 'Disk' name, after Disk Ball. The tip ends in a sharp point, and a surrounding ring works to push the piece back upright after it is knocked off balance, with that ring's smooth rim adding a little Life-After-Death potential. Compared with the original Spike, Disk Spike's tip is wider and its ring more solidly built than the one on Disk Ball.

In Play

The combination of a sharp contact point and a self-righting ring lets Disk Spike hold up under hits while still recovering its footing, a trait competitive players value in wear-down matchups.
