About This Part
Samurai Upper is an Attack Ring Takara issued for the Hard Metal System and its Gimmick Specialty Series line, first sold in Japan inside the MA-20 Booster Samurai Changer MS on October 23rd, 2004. It builds on the earlier Circle Upper (originally packaged with Dark Gargoyle MS), reusing the same metal component with its steeply sloped upper blades but pairing it with a wider plastic body. That extra plastic both extends the ring's reach and adds a Smash Attack capability that Circle Upper lacked, while stickers on the piece read "Samurai Edge" alongside the kanji character for "martial". At 22 grams it ties Jiraiya Blade as the heaviest Attack Ring made, and its circular shape gives it strong weight distribution that also lends itself to Defense builds.
In Play
Competitive players treat it as one of the strongest Attack Rings in the Hard Metal System, mixing Smash and Upper Attack when launched right-side spin and delivering forceful Smash Attack alone in left spin, and it doubles as a capable Defense, Stamina or Balance piece thanks to its weight and shape; the WBO's HMS format treats it as close to essential.
- Debuted in Japan inside the MA-20 Booster Samurai Changer MS on October 23rd, 2004.
- Reissued in the Beyblade Lucky Box 2005 in limited-edition black and red Samurai Changer MS colourways.
