Notches around its rim let it steal spin from anything that makes contact below the Weight Disk, its footprint stays clear of the round outlines on Wide Survivor and Wide Defense, and its shape and placement shield against Upper Attack. Builders also credit it with some of the best life-after-death of any Support Part in the plastic generation, and its compact size gives it a second life in Compact setups built around Driger V2's Customize Change Base.

Defense Ring anchors the Grip-Based Defender, a Zombie build pairing Wolborg 2's left SG for hit resistance with War Lion's Attack Ring and Wide Defense, and it shows up again in a heavier Zombie combination with Twin Horn, Wide Survivor and Burning Kerberous' SG, prized for stamina and stability that is nearly impossible to outspin outside a dedicated Zombie-killer; its main soft spot in both builds is Attack types.
